2015 Glen Archies Portrait Prize

Entry forms downloadable HERE for the 2015 Glen Archies Portrait Prize..

This competitive exhibition is held every two years at the Glen Innes Art Gallery and always suprises and delights.

  • This event is our lighthearted answer to the Archibald Prize and provides an opportunity for the region's artists to create portraits in either 2D, 3D or photography.
  • The idea for the Glen Archies was put forward by former member, Sharon Betteridge as a nod to the Archibald Prize. The following year the first Glen Archies Portrait Competition was launched at the Glen Innes Art Gallery. Over 600 visitors saw the first Glen Archies and visitation has been around that figure in subsequent exhibitions.
  • The gallery receives around 50+ entries from local and regional artists for this art prize and this year we hope to increase this number. The Glen Innes Severn Council has supported this event since its inception, as has Howard Eastwood of Eastmon Digital and it is due to this generous support from these and other sponsors that the gallery can offer a handsome total prize pool of over $2000.
  • The Glen Archies Portrait Prize is non-acquisitive, this year celebrates our 5th Glen Archies.
  • This year is also the gallery's 10th anniversary in the Glen Innes Severn Learning Centre and the committee are pulling out all stops to make the Glen Archies a celebratory event.

  • We hope you can join us on the gala night opening 4pm on Saturday 23 May.
